Print To PDF

From the cog.png Drawing Properties page for Roadmaps and POST Drawings, as well as POST Views, you can now download automatically generated PDF documents of your published drawings!

This feature also provides a URL link that you can put on your website for visitors to download the same document. This PDF link will always generate a PDF of the most currently published version, rendered identical to your embedded drawings or published HTML links.

How to Access PDF Documents and Download Links for Your Drawings

  • Locate the page_white_acrobat.png icon located to the left of the PDF Link field in the cog.png Drawing Properties page or wrench.png Version Settings page for your desired drawing.

For Published Roadmap Drawings

  • A version must be published for the PDF feature to appear in the Drawing Properties page. The link will have this format: 
http://oregon.ctepathways.org/pdf/DRAWING ID #/DRAWING TITLE.pdf
  • For example:

For a Specific Roadmap Drawing Version

  • Published or Unpublished, the link will have this format: 
http://oregon.ctepathways.org/pdf/DRAWING ID #/DRAWING #.pdf
  • For example:

For a Specific POST Drawing Version

  • Published or Unpublished, the link will have this format: 
http://oregon.ctepathways.org/pdf/post/POST ID #/POST DRAWING TITLE.pdf
  • For example:

For a POST View

  • Once a POST View is created the PDF feature is instantly accessible and will always reflect the current configuration of your POST View. The link will have this format: 
http://oregon.ctepathways.org/pdf/post-view/VIEW ID #/POST VIEW TITLE.pdf
  • For example:

What Happens Next?

  • Click the page_white_acrobat.png icon and a pop-up box will open allowing you to download and save a PDF of the drawing to your computer.
  • All hyperlinks in your Roadmap are active in this PDF document.
  • You can copy and paste the PDF Link URL into your website code to allow viewers to download this PDF document at any time.
  • This PDF is automatically generated on the Web Tool server and always reflects the selected version or published drawing, just like the HTML Link does!

What Happens When Printing a POST View?

  • When printing a POST View from a web browser (not clicking on the PDF link) the browser will add a footer with the POST View title and appropriate page number to every page, such as this:

  • When printing a PDF of a POST View you will now see a Printed on [date & time stamp] on the last page at the bottom of the printed tables.
  • POST Views will not print exactly as they appear in an HTML link, as shown below. The tab structure will go away. The drawings will instead print stacked, one above the other so that all drawings in the POST View are printed and displayed in a single document.
  • The top of each High School and Community College table will display the Organization Name - Tab Name as defined in the POST Views Properties page:

How Can I Find My PDF File After it Downloads?

When downloading the PDF you will be prompted to save the file to your computer. Select the desired location on your computer, then after it finishes downloading locate the file based on these file name structures:

For a Published Roadmap Drawing

Published drawings will always reference the currently published version number: 

Organization Name - Drawing Title - Version #.pdf

For example: Lane Community College - Drafting - Version 15.pdf

For a Specific Roadmap Drawing Version

Organization Name - Drawing Title - Version #.pdf

For example: Lane Community College - Drafting - Version 15.pdf

For a Specific POST Drawing Version

Organization Name - Drawing Title - Version #.pdf

For example: Lane Community College - Manufacturing Technology - Version 1.pdf

For a POST View

Since multiple drawings are incorporated into a "View", each with their own independent version number, you will only read this file name format: 

Organization Name - POST View Title.pdf

For example: Lane Community College - Drafting.pdf

File Names and Special Characters

Only letters, numbers, spaces and hyphens are supported in file names. You can continuing using other special characters in your Roadmap and POST Drawing titles, however, please note that they will not be supported when your drawings are converted to PDF documents.

Supported

  • Letters
  • Numbers
  • Spaces
  • Hyphens ("-")
  • The ampersand symbol ("&") is converted to the word "and".

Unsupported

All other special characters are removed and replaced with blank spaces in the PDF Document title, such as:

  • Commas (",")
  • Colons (":")
  • Semi-Colons (";")

For Example

The Roadmap drawing title:
LCC: Accounting AAS: Accounting Clerk, Bookkeeper, & Payroll Clerk

Becomes:
Lane Community College - Accounting AAS Accounting Clerk Bookkeeper and Payroll Clerk
